The Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is the physiological phenomenon of variation in the time interval between heartbeats. It is measured by the variation in the beat-to-beat interval.
The Respiratory Rate is the rate at which breathing occurs. This is measured in breaths per minute and is set, and controlled by the respiratory centre.
The Respiration Amplitude characterizes the lung volume representing the normal volume of air displaced between normal inhalation and exhalation when extra effort is not applied.
What is VISSEIRO?
The VISSEIRO system is a component for integration in and on seating furniture for the implicit monitoring of physiological vital parameters (heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate and respiratory amplitude).
What does the VISSEIRO system look like?
The technology can be combined with existing structures by using sensors of variable size. In real time you can implicitly measure vital signs without direct skin contact. This works even through normal clothing.
Which vital signs?
Currently, the VISSEIRO technology measures heartbeat, heart rate variability, respiratory rate and respiratory amplitude with very high data accuracy. Further vital signs are under development.
How can the VISSEIRO system help?
By using non-contact, long-term measurements during daytime the system can immediately detect critical changes in vital signs. These can then be used for and proactive alarm and introduce the adaptation of the patient's treatment plan.
What are the advantages of implicit measurement?
The implicit measurement is particularly well suited for non-contact long-term monitoring of physiological vital parameters during rest periods. The advantages of the method compared to an ECG or pulse oximeter are that there is no direct contact between human and sensor. As a result, the daily routine and the comfort of the user remain unaffected, while at the same time long and short-term trends of the vital parameters are recognized.

Integrated into a seat cushion, the VISSEIRO technology can be used as a mobile device. For example, vital signs can be measured at the workplace.
Traditional smart devices have a problem in terms of compliance and adherence. A smart watch must be explicitly worn and activated. The VISSEIRO Smart Chair Pad solves this problem by implicitly measuring vital signs: "Just sit down".
The VISSEIRO Smart Chair Pad is especially ergonomically designed. By using a viscoelastic gel, an optimal equal pressure distribution can be achieved. This results in better blood circulation than with conventional foam cushions.
